District court in Brest orders confiscation of large Russian-bound shipment of audio, video systems

A judge of Brest's district court ordered the confiscation of a large Russian-bound shipment of audio and video systems that was carried in three trucks from Holland.
The shipment, estimated at $770,000, was seized by customs and KGB officers at a checkpoint in Baranovichi after an examination established that the value of the goods had been considerably
understated in the accompanying documents.
"According to the documents, one of the trucks was carrying home and car audio systems worth $25,000. However, 2,820 VCRs and televisions of different brands valued at a total of 850 million rubels
were discovered in its cargo compartment," Sergei Radyuk, spokesman for the KGB Brest regional office, told BelaPAN.
According to the official, unreported goods also were discovered in two other trucks.
