Activists of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party "Narodnaya Hramada" in Brest have applied to the city authorities for permission to hold a rally at the stadium "Stroitel" on March 28. The Social Democrats aim to draw the attention of the public and the government to the problem of low wages and encourage workers to defend their rights by all legal means, according to the application. The Brest Regional Trade Union Association plans to stage a rally at the same place on the same day. Narodnaya Hramada has said that it organizes the rally to display solidarity with the unions. The party expects to gather about 5,000 participants, whereas the trade union association about 3,000 people.
