Police in Brest recently busted an underground press used for printing illegal campaign ads for one of the candidates running for the House of Representatives in Sunday's elections. Police officers found the printing equipment and over 2,000 campaign ads in a warehouse located in the Brest River Port and leased to a Brest businessman, a spokesman for the regional police department told BelaPAN. The spokesman, who did not name the candidate, said the ads had been printed illegally, as the businessman had no printing license. The businessman had reportedly accepted a deal to print a total of 10,000 ads. The printing equipment was placed under arrest and the businessman is facing civil charges. Sample ads were sent to the district election office to decide whether the candidate who ordered the ads can continue the race.
