Customs officers on Polish border seize this year's largest drug shipment

This year's largest shipment of narcotic drugs was seized by Belarusian customs officers on the Polish border on Tuesday.
The drugs were discovered in a Russian-bound bus that was crossing the Polish border through the Varshavsky Most checkpoint.
A bag and a portable refrigerator were found to contain 3.3 kilograms of marijuana and one kilogram of hashish, Vyacheslav Osintsev, chief of the Zapadny Bug Customhouse, told BelaPAN.
A subsequent examination found 1.5 more kilograms of hashish and 96 pink pills believed to be ecstasy, hidden in a chewing gum pack.
The drugs, disguised as chocolate, had been peppered to mislead sniffer dogs.
The shipment is valued at nearly $60,000. Two drivers and a passenger were arrested on suspicion of smuggling the drugs. The customs
official would not disclose their nationality and age, pleading secrecy.
The regional office of the Committee for State Security (KGB) was put in charge of the investigation into the case.
