Biweekly passenger air service between Brest, Kaliningrad to resume this month

Biweekly passenger service from Brest to Russia's exclave of Kaliningrad will resume this month. The flight, operated by the Gomelavia airline, will use a 45-seat Antonov An-24 twin prop, Viktor Smal, head of the Belaeronavigatsiya state enterprise's branch in Brest, told BelaPAN.
A private airline carried 14 passengers, mostly builders, to Kaliningrad and back two times a week last summer, using a Czech-built L-410 twin prop. According to Mr. Smal, the Brest airport is in good technical condition, which allows it to serve both local and international flights.
The airport's management is currently in talks with Kazakh airlines about servicing and refueling cargo planes on their way to Europe.
There are plans to launch regular service to Simferopol, the capital of Ukraine's Republic of Crimea, and Burgas in Bulgaria.
